Let’s draw, craft and create together! ✏️

Come join Canopy Support Services staff for a two-part mini-series for teens. This event aims to create a supportive environment for youth aged 13-17 years to work on emotions through paint, drawing, art, etc. Each week, we will create something and share experiences with one another.

This event will be hosted from 5-6pm in the upper portion of the Canopy Office. Parents can park in the UPPER parking lot, and head towards the main doors. An Autism Services representative will meet your teen, introduce themselves and show your them into the building!

PLEASE NOTE: This is a 2 week mini-series with the second session being held on Tuesday December 10th from 5-6pm.

Please note, an OAP number is required for all in-person events.

Clothing & Toy Swap

Join us for an opportunity to swap some of your pre-loved items with anothers pre-loved items! 👕🧸

Do you have toys and clothes you are looking to get rid of during the holidays? Are you looking for new-to-you clothes and toy items to replace them with? Come join us in person at our office in Peterborough to do our first toy and clothing swap!

This event requires a minimum of five participants in order to run so please encourage your friends and family to participate in this and give back to each other!

This group will be run in-person at the our Peterborough Main Office at 150 O’Carroll Avenue. A staff member will greet you at the main door entrance and direct you to the designated space.

We ask for clothing and toy items to be dropped off one week prior to the event (i.e.,Thursday November 28, 2024 by 4:30pm) in order to give staff time to sort through the items to place them together in order of size sequence, type, etc. We will confirm enrollment in the event with you two weeks before the event date.

Any items that go unclaimed will be donated afterwards to a local charity or a community agency in need. This event is aimed for families in our Autism Services Program with children under the age of 17.

Let's get in the holiday spirit and get crafty, with cookies of course! 🎄

Come join Canopy Support Services staff on Friday December 6th for our Canopy Holiday Party!!!

Children aged 3-6 will join us in some cookie decorating and crafting. This is a great opportunity for a small group of kids to interact with other children their age and have some fun! Parents will also have the opportunity to connect with one another in a small group while their children are entertained!

This event is for siblings aged 8-12 of children and youth enrolled in the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). This fun workshop is an opportunity for siblings to share experiences with one another, participate in a variety of fun activities, and learn more about each others differences and similarities!


This group will be offered IN PERSON. Parents should park in the upper or lower parking lot, and use the front door of the office to drop off their children. An Autism Services rep will introduce themselves and show you to the meeting location. Parents are welcome to wait in the waiting room, or a quiet space within Canopy, or drop off their children for an hour!

Note: This supportive workshop is for siblings of children with ASD, and not for children/youth with ASD themselves. There is a teen winter craft event happening at the same time as this sibling social!

Need Help Submitting your Canopy Expenses to Access OAP? We can help!

This event is for parents/caregivers of children and youth enrolled in the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) who are accessing Core Clinical Services, or will be doing so shortly. This workshop will help parents and caregivers upload their Canopy documentation to the Access OAP family portal. This also provides parents/caregivers with the opportunity to ask Canopy's Social Worker or Family Support Coordinator any questions that they would like to ask.

Parents should park in the upper or lower parking lot, and use the front door of the office. An Autism Services rep will introduce themselves and show you to the meeting location.

FREE Foundational: Employment VR for Teens!

Step into the Virtual job site!

Canopy Support Services, in partnership with Employment Planning and Counselling Peterborough (EPC) are excited to provide a virtual reality experience for teens aged 16 & 17 who would like to learn more about potential job opportunities using the VR world.

This VR program is designed to allow job seekers to experience various occupations first hand, using a cutting-edge training platform. There are 31 different options for the on-the-job learning opportunities.

This event is offered in person. Teens will have 30 minutes each to experience the VR career opportunities first hand. They will also have an opportunity to chat in a small group and share the experience with one another.

At this time, the group is limited to 4 participants.

Parents should drop off their teens at the Canopy Support Services, main office, where an Autism Services representative will meet their teen and show them into the building.

*An OAP number is required for this event.

ABA 101

What is ABA? A workshop for parents/caregivers

This parent and caregiver workshop is designed to give a brief overview on what Applied Behaviour Analysis is and how we use the concepts and strategies in behavioural intervention. The overview includes looking at functions of behaviour, positive reinforcement, and strategies to address challenging behaviours based on function. Learning outcomes include learning new function-based strategies for challenging behaviours, how to assess antecedents and consequences and how to utilize positive reinforcement.

Tech Requirements: Must have the ability to connect to Zoom (Computer or handheld devices, such as a tablet or a cellphone).

Lego Nights for 6-12 year Olds

Show us your best Lego creation or come to hang out with other kids who love Lego too!

Please join the team at Canopy Support Services with a chance for your child to show off their best Lego creations in this mini social skills group. Your child will create a new Lego creation and learn about the importance of appropriate social skills.

The session will have a theme for the Lego creation, and will also cover a variety of social skills. Topics could include communication, listening and following directions, providing/accepting constructive criticism and recognizing sarcasm, as well as identifying emotions.

This group is designed for children aged 6-12 with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum disorder, who are registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP).

Please note, an OAP number is required for all in-person events.

This group will be offered IN PERSON. This group will be held at our Cobourg office at 975 Elgin Street West. Parents should park in the parking lot, proceed towards the main doors labeled "The Offices of 975 Elgin Street" and an Autism Services representative will meet with you, introduce themselves, and show your child into the building.

During the group session, there is the option for the parents to stay, have refreshments, ask questions of a Coordinator, and meet other parents with same-aged children.
